We recently ran across an interesting bit of information that we thought we would share with you. Zillow, one of the most popular Web-based marketplaces for real estate and homes, recently announced the top kitchen design trends for the coming year. According to Zillow’s press release, kitchen remodeling is projected to be one of the top priorities for homeowners in 2014, and many of these jobs will include the installation of new countertops.
Based on a survey of the Zillow Digs Board of Designers and the most popular kitchen photos on the Zillow Digs website, black countertops are projected to be among the top kitchen trends. Homeowners are said to believe that black countertops add an air of sophistication to kitchens. However, many homeowners will be pairing black countertops with light-colored, gray or marble designs in order to create a level of contrast.
In addition to black countertops, the Zillow Digs Home Design Trend Report states that open shelves, glass cabinets and dark paint tones, such as copper, brown and red, will be very prominent in kitchen remodeling in 2014.
Homeowners are said to be looking at granite and quartz for their black countertops, and one member of the Zillow Digs Board of Designers went on record stating that honed, black granite or granite with a leather finish provides a tasteful, dramatic aesthetic.
