The International Surface Event EAST Officially Opens 2015 Attendee Online Registration

Online registration for those wishing to attendee The International Surface Event (TISE) East. This is the second year for the event, which will run from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5 in Orlando, Fla. this year. The trade show has three distint portions – StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas, TileExpo and SURFACES. On Nov. 2, only educational offerings will be available, with the exhibit hall opening the next day, Nov. 3. Organizers are planning some new features at this year’s event. “The Porch, Open Air Design Concept” is among the new features and according to the show will be the hub of activity on the show floor. Including a cocktail bar, happy hours and lounges, it will be the central meeting location for tours. The Porch will showcase the high demand design, architectural and retail needs for the ever popular open air design concept. This beautifully designed show feature will showcase exhibitor’s floor covering, stone and tile products, paired with designer accessories. The show will also include the new Peer 180 Conference, a peer-to-peer conference experience in which attendees will share the problems with which they need help, the answers they have learned from their own experiences and make connections with professionals who face the same challenges. It is designed to be a smaller, more intimate and supported environment tailored by and for the individual attendee. The International Surface Event (TISE) honored several exhibiting companies with the “Best of Show” awards for its 2015 event in Las Vegas. Participating exhibitors vied for the top honor in several categories.

The Best of StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas awards were presented to winners in three categories: Innovation, Technology and Sustainability.

The winners for Best of StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas were awarded as follows:

• Technology – ETemplate Systems for the ELaser CT
• Sustainability – MStone Stone & Tile for Slimline Stone Laminates

The Best of Product StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas 2015 Award went to GranQuartz for the Omni Cubed Pro-Lift Automatic. The Pro-Lift Automatic was engineered by Omni Cubed for optimum safety, ease and convenience. It allows for much safer lowering, transporting and lifting of very tall and heavy countertops. The Pro-Lift features a long-lasting, rechargeable battery pack; wireless remote; countertop clamp; kick-brake; flat-free, non-marking tires; and weighs only 74 lbs.

The Best Product of TileExpo 2015 Award went to TileRedi USA for the Center Redi Trench. This one piece shower pan is manufactured in several sizes and has been designed with an integral curb, pitch and drain featuring the a designer-look to accommodate any center drain shower application.

Coverings 2015 Features Appreciation Days

Coverings 2015 LogoCoverings, the largest tile and stone exhibition in North America, has announced the return of “Appreciation Days,” which will feature tailored programming for specific attendee segments, including architects, designers, fabricators, contractors, builders and remodelers. Comprised of guided tours of the show floor and focused education sessions, Appreciation Days will provide participants with opportunities to further their knowledge alongside fellow industry members during Coverings 2015, which will be held April 14 to 17 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Participants of each Appreciation Day will have access to a designated lounge, providing a space dedicated to networking and relaxing during the show. Additionally, all registered participants of Coverings’ Appreciation Days will be offered complimentary lunches and numerous opportunities to network with other professionals during their respective day.

“Each attendee segment is important to Coverings, and their attendance is appreciated, so we are continually searching for ways to enhance their show experience,” said Karin Fendrich, Coverings show director. “Appreciation Days not only allow us to celebrate the diverse range of Coverings’ attendees but also provide them with curated educational and networking opportunities.”

Dates and programming highlights for the Appreciation Days are as follows:

  • Builder & Remodeler Day,  April 14 - Features roundtable discussions in English and Spanish over lunch in the Appreciation Lounge, facilitated by the Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas (in Spanish) and the Florida Home Builders Association. The focus is on current trends in the builder and remodeler industry in the Southeast market. Guided tours of the show floor will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., starting and ending at the Appreciation Lounge.
  • Architect & Designer Day, April 15 – Begins with breakfast at 9:15 a.m. with Interior Design Magazine’s Hospitality Design Power Panel, moderated by Deputy Editor Edie Cohen. Lunch is provided during Joey Shimoda’s noon Keynote Session where he will present “The Sensuality of Surface,” sponsored by Contract Magazine. In addition, specifier attendees are encouraged to attend the Featured Session presented by American Society of Interior Designers Executive Vice President and CEO Randy Fiser, who will discuss “Designing Wellness.” In between the dynamic education programming, facilitated tours of the show floor will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., leaving from the Appreciation Lounge.
  • Contractor Days, April 15-16 - On these days, the National Tile Contractors Association will host roundtable discussions over lunch in the Contractor Lounge. Discussions will be divided into residential and commercial contracting interests and are open to all experience levels. The Contractor Days also feature eight, one-hour guided tours of the show floor and happy hours with prize giveaways in the lounge in the afternoon.
  • Fabricator Day, April 16 - Features several roundtables over lunch in the Appreciation Lounge on key topics, including, “CEU Immersion Class | Providing CEUs to Architects & Interior Designers Using MIA’s Turn-Key Program,” “How to Handle Wastewater in a Fabrication Setting” and “Perspectives in Benchmarking.” “Stone Zone Passports” will also be available at registration and in the Lounge for fabricators to use as a map and guide to exploring the dozens of exhibitors located in the machinery and allied products area of the Coverings show floor.

IBS, KBIS, TISE (StonExpo) Continue Vegas Co-location in 2016

According to news releases, the International Builder Show (IBS), Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) and The International Surface Event (TISE – StonExpo) will all return to Las Vegas as part of Design & Construction Week in 2015. The 2016 event(s) will be held Jan. 19 to 21. This comes on the back of the recent shows for which turnout was reported to have included more than 125,000 builders, dealers and suppliers, more than 300 members of the media, and 3,750 exhibiting brands to cover more than 4.7 million net sq. ft. of space.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) announced their respective trade shows, IBS and KBIS, will continue to co-locate together through 2020. NAHB and NKBA will continue to produce separate educational programming and special events. Future show dates are Jan. 10 to 12, 2017, and Jan. 9 to 11, 2018, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

Coverings 2015 to Feature Conference Program with Industry Authorities

Coverings 2015 LogoCoverings 2015, the largest stone and tile exhibition in North America, returns to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., April 14 to 17, and the show is slated to feature a robust program of notable, respected speakers. More than 75 educational sessions begin one day before the show proper, on April 13, and they will cover a broad range of topics relevant to the stone and tile industry that are designed to give businesses an edge in today’s highly competitive marketplace.

All educational sessions at Coverings 2015 will be organized into tracks curated for each segment of attendees: fabricators, distributors, contractors, builders, designers, architects and retailers. In addition, a special segment will be provided for professionals wishing to learn about sustainability and green programs. However, sessions are free and open to all exhibitors and attendees, and selection is ultimately based on individual interest.

The conference component of Coverings ranks as one of the show’s most popular features, and it has been a vital element since being implemented in 1990. In addition to providing an excellent educational experience, attendees may benefit by earning valuable CEU credits.

Tuesday, April 14 – 8:00 a.m.
“Industry Update: Latest News on Tile Standards, Specification Issues, and Other Important Developments”
Presented by Eric Astrachan, Executive Director of the Tile Council of North America (TCNA)

Back by popular demand, the TCNA Executive Director will report on industry current events, including regulatory issues, consumption data, changes to standards and the TCNA Handbook. Mr. Astrachan will also discuss a host of other issues and controversies with a focus on how they affect segments of the tile industry. The broad-spectrum update will cover latest developments from the TCNA Lab, the latest on tile and green construction and various pitfalls and liabilities to avoid.

Wednesday, April 15 – 9:15 a.m.
“Interior Design Magazines Hospitality Design Power Panel”
Presented by Edie Cohen, Deputy Editor of Interior Design Magazine

The panel will showcase top designers from Interior Design’s Top 100 Hospitality Giants, who will discuss innovations, trends and developments in hospitality design, growth sectors, and how tile and stone comes into play. Panelists will offer their insight and tips on creating inviting and innovative spaces through case studies, projects and more.

Wednesday, April 15 – 12:00 p.m.
“The Sensuality of Surface”
Presented by Joey Shimoda, Chief Creative Officer of The Shimoda Design Group

The Shimoda Design Group has spent more than a decade crafting spaces that celebrate the sensuality of surface. The firm specializes in creating spaces that elevate each client’s brand vision and the innovative use of surfacing materials that set a tone to deliver a focused message about culture and design.

Thursday, April 16 – 8:00 a.m.
“One on One with Bart Bettiga”
Presented by Harris Rosen, President of Rosen Hotels & Resorts

Bart Bettiga of the National Tile Contractors Association and Coverings’ 2015 Chairman will sit down with Mr. Rosen for a one–on–one exclusive interview that will address the hospitality business, the design industry and his view of the future of design.

Tuesday, April 14, 9:30–10:30 a.m.
“Future Color/Design Trends: Innovation and Impact”
Featuring Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute

Eiseman will discuss how to stay on top of the latest color forecasts in a highly visual world in order to sell products or services, examine how traditional media such as print and TV commercials have become more inventive and sophisticated and how new technologies have introduced unexpected color stories. This session will also address what is driving these color trends and how they impact ones business to better know how to make critical color decisions.

Tuesday, April 14, 10:45–11:45 a.m.
“Secrets to Creating Remarkable Customer Experiences”
Featuring Sandy Smith of Sandy Smith Seminars

Smith’s presentation notes the decreased dependency of the customer on the seller for information due to the emergence of the Internet, identify the escalating expectation of today’s 24-hour customer and highlight best practices of organizations that consistently deliver remarkable customer experiences. 

Tuesday, April 14, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
“Stone Trends 2015”
Featuring Vince Marazita of Marazita & Associates

Marazita will provide an overall view of the market and market trends at this 17th Annual State of the Industry presentation on the dimensional stone marke
t in the U.S. This session covers information, sourcing, marketing and application trends in the stone industry over the last year with examples of award–winning projects that have been recognized for their use of natural stone.

Wednesday, April 15, 1:30–2:30 p.m.
“Designing Wellness”
Featuring Randy Fiser, Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)

Fiser will advise on how ASID and its members are improving lives through better design in response to the increased attention to wellness. With policy makers and the public focusing on health and wellbeing initiatives, interior designers have taken on a valuable role in this wellness movement.

Thursday, April 16, 9:15–10:15 a.m.
“Design Build Obligations: You May Not Know It, But You Own It”
Featuring Tommy A. Conner of Superior Tile and Stone

Conner will explore Design Build, a project delivery method that provides the owner with a single point of contact for design and construction. This session will provide awareness of the unique financial and liability risks associated with design build that are essential to avoiding unpleasant surprises.

Thursday, April 16, 10:30–11:30 a.m.
“10 Best Practices to Maximize Your Store Experience & Sales”
Featuring Nicole Leinbach Reyhle of Retail Minded

Reyhle will present the 10 best practices in today’s crowded marketplace to help retailers and designers increase their success. This session will review current market trends, in–the–know retail tips, and realistic ways to maximize time and sales. Attendees will have the opportunity to develop a checklist to evaluate their own store best practices to grow beyond existing store goals. Coverings 2015 to Return to Orlando

Coverings, the tile & stone exhibition, has announced it will return to Orlando, Fla., in 2015. The show will once again include an array of products, conference programming and many show floor features — all for free — April 14 to 17, 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center. With more than a dozen successful shows in the Orlando area, next year is anticipated to be the largest show since 2009, with an overall increase in both square footage and number of exhibitors. In total, the 2015 show is projected to have 23,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors across 400,000 net sq. ft. of exhibit space.
