MIA+BSI Welcome 3 New MIA Board Members

mia bsi natural stone institute logoMIA+BSI announced that three individuals have been elected to the thirteen-person MIA Board of Directors. These individuals will also serve on the transitional MIA+BSI Board of Directors during the second year of the joint venture.

Duane Naquin, CEO of Stone Interiors, an MIA Accredited fabrication /installation company in Gaston, SC, will represent Zone 3 (Southeast: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee). Naquin is an MIA+BSI CEU speaker, Women in Stone mentor, and is actively involved in the education program. Naquin replaces Jon Lancto, who will remain on the board as 2017 MIA President.

Herwig Callewier, Chairman of Beltrami N.V., a natural stone producer and wholesale company located in Belgium, will represent Zone 10 (Europe). Callewier is founding member and now president of Febenat, an association which furthers the natural stone industry in Belgium and Holland. He is also involved with the WTCB Belgian Technical Institute’s stone committee and the World Natural Stone Association. Callewier replaces Claus Larsen (DANSK Srl), who served on the MIA Board for five years.

Ali Kader, President and CEO of Egy-Mar International, a quarry and supply company based in Egypt in Dubai, will represent Zone 11 (Africa, Asia, Australia, Middle East, and Philippines). Kader is the founding member of the World Natural Stone Association and has been involved with the Egypt Expo & Convention Authority, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Marble Sector, and the Marble & Granite Investors Association. Kader replaces Arik Grebelsky (A.Grebelsky & Son), who served on the MIA Board for five years.

2016 MIA President David Castellucci (Kenneth Castellucci & Associates) expressed his gratitude to the two outgoing board members, saying: “We are most appreciative of the work done by both Claus and Arik during their time on the MIA Board of Directors. With their help, we have made great strides to become a more inclusive and international association. We welcome the three new board members and look forward to what the future will bring for our combined organization.”

nbmdaThe North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA) announced the organization’s Board of Directors for 2017. The NBMDA Board is comprised of industry executives from both distributor and manufacturer member firms within the specialty building material, kitchen & bath and woodworking industries.
“It is my pleasure to announce this year’s NBMDA Board of Directors. We are thrilled to have such a strong leadership base to guide the organization leading into 2017,” said NBMDA Executive Vice President Kevin Gammonley. “I am confident that this year’s Board of Directors have the insight and experience to help NBMDA achieve its goals and thrive in 2017.”

NKBA Announces 2017 Chairman and Board of Directors

NKBA The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) announced its 2017 Board of Directors. The nine-person Board of Directors, who together represent a wide spectrum of the kitchen and bath industry, will work with CEO Bill Darcy to guide the NKBA through the next year.

The 2017 Board of Directors, led by NKBA Chairman, Lorenzo Marquez, vice president of marketing, Cosentino USA, includes Chris Terrill, CEO, HomeAdvisor; Mark Kovich, vice president of sales and marketing, Waypoint, a division of American Woodmark; Neil Bailey, president, Smallbone of Devizes; Emilee Chappell, director of marketing, TOTO USA Inc.; Steve Joseph, chief product officer, Side Chef; Patricia Davis Brown, CKBD, owner, Patricia Davis Brown, LLC; Young Huh, owner, Young Huh, LLC; and Steve Petock, senior vice president of business development, Ferguson.

LATICRETE, a manufacturer of construction solutions for the building industry, has appointed Dr. Stephan Liozu and Dr. Volker Weidmann to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Stephan Liozu comes to LATICRETE with more than 23 years of experience with several multinational building product companies. He has expertise in the manufacturing and distribution practices of the industry, his forte is customer value management, and recent accomplishments include coaching, consulting and training for large global industrial companies. Dr. Liozu has published six books, four e-books, a combination of 40 academic and practitioner papers, and has presented at more than 45 conferences.

Dr. Volker Weidmann joins LATICRETE with 28 years of experience, including being the Managing Director of Hermann Otto GmbH in Fridolfing, Germany for the last 20 years. Having worked extensively in sales, R & D, application support, marketing and branding, Dr. Weidmann brings a comprehensive knowledge of construction industry practices and materials. He has been elected chairman of the German Industry Association of Sealant Manufacturers (IVD).

“We look forward to working with Stephan and Volker and to having their contributions enhance the lives of our employee and our partners. I am confident that both Stephan and Volker will be strong assets to the LATICRETE Board of Directors,” stated David Rothberg, LATICRETE Chairman and CEO.

Dr. Stephan Liozu and Dr. Volker Weidmann will replace directors Ron Shaw and Dr. Bernard Gustin who are retiring after 25 years.

CMA Elects Officers for 2016-17 Term

Cabinet Makers AssociationThe Cabinet Makers Association (CMA) announced the results of its annual election for the organization’s Board of Directors. Matt Krig of Northland Woodworks (Blaine, MN) was re-elected as President for the 2016-17 year. This will be his third term as President. Leland Thomasset of Taghkanic Woodworking (Pawling, NY) was elected to serve as Vice President. Scott Comstock of Woodperfect Custom Cabinetry (Forney, TX) was elected to serve another term as the Treasurer. The newly-elected James Fox of Fox Woodworking (Kimberton, PA) will serve as the Secretary. The CMA also welcomes newly-elected Chris Dehmer of Dark Horse Woodworks (Atlanta, GA), who will join Mike Mitchell of Burger Boat (Manitowoc, WI) and Keith Smith of Keith Smith Custom Builders (Greer, SC) as members-at-large on the Board of Directors.
Completing their terms and exiting the Board are Keith Kreppein of Olde Saratoga Millwork (South Glen Falls, NY), who served as Vice President, and David Buschsbaum of Atlanta Closet & Storage Solutions (Atlanta, GA), who served as Secretary. The CMA conveyed gratitude to Keith and David for their contributions for the betterment of the association.

National Association of Home Builders Elects 2016 Leaders

NAHB logoThe National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) held a board meeting and elected senior officers for 2016 during the International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Las Vegas. NAHB’s Chairman of the Board this year is Ed Brady. Brady has more than 25 years of experience in the home building industry and is president of Brady Homes, based in Bloomington, Ill. Granger MacDonald, a Texas-based builder and developer with 40 years of experience in the home building industry, was elected as the 2016 First Vice Chairman of the Board. MacDonald is chairman and CEO of the MacDonald Companies. Louisiana-based custom home builder, Randy Noel, was elected as Second Vice Chairman of the Board. Noel has more than 30 years of experience in the home building industry and is president of Reve Inc., a custom home building firm that has developed more than 1,000 custom homes in the greater New Orleans area. Greg Ugalde was elected as Third Vice Chairman of the Board. A Connecticut builder and developer with more than 20 years of experience in the home building industry, Ugalde is president and chief legal officer of Torrington-based T&M Building Co.,Inc. NAHB Chairman for 2015, Tom Woods remains as Immediate Past Chairman. Woods is president of Woods Custom Homes in Blue Springs, Mo., and has more than 40 years of experience in the housing Industry. The NAHB’s Chief Executive Officer is Jerry Howard, from Washington, D.C. Howard leads a staff of more than 240 working out of the National Housing Center in Washington. He has served as the association’s CEO/EVP since February of 2001. Previously, Howard was NAHB’s chief tax counsel. NAHB represents the interests of the nation’s housing professionals through advocacy, education and research with more than 800 affiliated state and local home builders associations that include more than 140,000 members across the country.
