Fabricator Profile: Premier Countertops

P-039Brian Waddell first had the idea to start a countertop fabrication business when arranging for the delivery of a CNC router for the furniture store he managed. After he saw a demonstration of a stone CNC machine, he went back home and conducted some research to find that a gap existed in the region surrounding his hometown of Tupelo, Miss. for Cambria surfacing.

Premier Countertops opened in 2006 when Cambria agreed to deliver a truckload of slabs. Waddell was able to purchase two additional truckloads and by 2012, the amount jumped to 27 truckloads. When Cambria’s fabricator in Memphis went out of business, Premier Countertops was chosen to step in, which allowed the company to “take over the market” in parts of Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi, according to Waddell.

Premier Countertops now fabricates most types of natural stone and quartz surfacing for residential customers and has showrooms in Tupelo and Olive Branch, Tenn. The company fabricates at least 1,000 square feet of surfacing material each week, 70 percent of which is quartz. In addition to the 12 to 15 jobs Premier Countertops does itself, the company also delivers countertops to partners across its three-state territory.

What’s more is that Waddell does not take an opposing stance towards his competitors. He always willing to help, offer advice and lend a hand to other fabricators when needed.
