Paxton Countertops, located in Grand Ledge, Mich., has become a leading fabricator in Central Michigan, and according to Dave Paxton, building success is all about being able to show appreciation not only to customers but also to employees and vendors
Paxton, who was recently elected to serve as the president of ISFA, understands that it is a company’s team of employees that is primarily responsible for making the business a success. He keeps $5 gift cards for Subway on his desk so that he is ready to show anyone who goes the extra mile how much he appreciates his or her efforts.
In addition, Paxton holds weekly production meetings that can often be very stressful, so he now ends each of these meetings by having everyone state two good qualities about whoever is sitting on their left-hand side.
While showing appreciation to customers and employees is nothing new, very few show appreciation to their vendors. However, Paxton has made a point to write letters to the supervisors of his local representatives detailing what they do to provide his company with quality products and service.
