Jim and Georgann Garver, owners of GW Surfaces in Ventura, Calif., attribute their success to keeping a close eye on every aspect of the business and new industry trends. In addition, they note that a willingness to change the business as new trends and circumstances dictate is essential in long-term survival and growth.
Jim Garver was educated as an engineer but soon decided that his place was not in the corporate world. To achieve his goal of becoming an entrepreneur, he started a Corian fabrication business in 1976. Today, GW Surfaces includes two facilities with a total of 66,000 sq. ft. and employs 55 people.
GW Surfaces stresses open communication with all clients, and customer service is a top priority. However, the couple states that it is just as important to maintain positive and honest relations with suppliers, banks and other businesses required by the company.
