Across several states in the Midwest, Blasius, Inc. is known just as much for its maple syrup as it is its countertops. This family-owned fabrication company is located in Vassar, Mich., about 90 minutes north of Detroit, and the main fabrication facility is smack-dab in the middle of a working maple syrup farm.

blasius farmJon Blasius, one of the principals of the company, jokingly attributes the success of Blasius to its success with maple syrup, but it is no joke that his clients enjoy the custom,  laser-engraved bottle of syrup he gives to each of them every year. The company was founded in the 1970s as a remodeling business, but it was incorporated as a fabricator by Jon’s father and two brothers-in-law in 1996.

Blasius, Inc. works on a strict business-to-business model, primarily selling to kitchen and bath dealers. Because Vassar is a village of only 300 people, working directly with the public didn’t seem to make smart business sense.
