Installation of a Very Large Seamless Copper Countertop

Posted on 26 August 2016 by cradmin

This video put forward by Mini Mansions Moldings and produced by Evision Media shows the installation of a very large copper countertop. Copper is just one of many different materials that have found a niche in the high end countertop market.

When the video was released several years ago, its creators believed it to be the largest seamless copper countertop ever installed. While we don’t know if that has changed over the years, a larger seamless copper countertop would be difficult to find. While the video doesn’t offer much in the way of details on the fabrication process, it is certainly an interesting view. The countertop is so large it takes more than a half a dozen men to manipulate it and move it into place.

Embedded LED Light Pattern in Vanity / Countertop

Embedded LED Light Pattern in Vanity / Countertop

Posted on 26 July 2016 by cradmin

This video put forward by Digital Ambiance shows a unique embedded LED light project, that is atypical of the standard backlighting for several reasons.

First the project was done using wood as the counter material, which isn’t often the subject of a backlighting project. However, the video did state that this type of thing could be done pretty much with any material.

Also, the backlighting wasn’t done in a uniform manner across the surface, as might be seen with onyx or other translucent materials, but rather shapes were routed into the top that were subsequently filled with a translucent opaque resin. Under the various shapes color-changing LED lights were placed.

Overall, while it is doubtful that many would choose this particular style for their home, the effect is just plain cool.

Video: TPB Tech Porcelain-based Compact Surface Includes Built-in Induction Heating

Posted on 07 June 2016 by cradmin

Here’s a new take on countertops that we haven’t seen yet, which is rare indeed. In this video put out by TPBarcelona, the company’s TPB Tech product is featured. This porcelain-based material has all of the great properties associated with similar products, such as very high heat tolerance, great durability and scratch resistance, near impervious to staining and etching and UV stability. However, the one really amazing feature is that it also includes built in induction heating allowing users to cook right on the surface. The locations of the “burners” are noted with laser light and temperature controls are built in, as well. Because induction heating only works to heat conductive materials (i.e. metal – and quite quickly at that), and non-conductive materials (plastics, human skin, etc.) are not affected. As such, the areas where cooking takes place are cool to the touch and will not damage non-conductive items coming in contact with them.

This video may very well be showing us the future of the kitchen that is taking place right now (in this case, primarily in Spain).

Video: Repairing an Acrylic Solid Surface Sink

Posted on 04 May 2016 by cradmin

In this video presented by Karran, a sink provider specializing in “seamless” sinks for laminate, solid surface, quartz and granite, repair techniques are shown for solid surface acrylic sinks. While we would never recommend that homeowners or non-professionals do any work on their own sinks or countertops, this video depicts how easily a small problem could be repaired in solid surface.

Guitar Urinal Video

Guitar Urinal Video

Posted on 01 April 2016 by cradmin

Here is a video we feel is in the spirit of today, April 1. Although this video is only vaguely related to countertops, when we here at CountertopResource.com saw it, we knew we just had to share, just for the laughs. Most of you work largely in the kitchen & bath, and there’s no denying the connection to the bathroom in this just plain strange video published by ALMAP BBDO, a South American marketing/advertising company. How someone decided to make the connection between guitar and urinal is beyond me, but here it is in all it’s glory.

There is really not much to say about this video except you have to watch it for yourself and that it may be ever so slightly offensive to some, although it is more funny than prurient…
