Cinclips Undermount Sink Support System Now Available

Posted on 28 June 2014 by cradmin

Cinclips offers its patent-pending undermount sink support system, which holds up to 550 lbs. These sink mounting brackets are easily installed without drilling holes into the surface or using special glues or epoxies, and do not require reaching up to the stone to screw in anchors. Although they are made to last a lifetime, they can be removed for sink replacement or service if needed. Sinks can be mounted quickly and hooked up immediately, with no wait time. They are also suitable for remounts and repairs. They are mounted to the inside of a cabinet and the brace supports the sink and the countertop. They are also insect- and moisture-resistant. Each pack comes with four standard-sized braces and one short brace for the front and hardware. They simply screw into the cabinet and wedge up under the sink. They are made in the United States and are available directly through the company or through a variety of distributors. Bulk discounts are available.

Posted on 25 June 2014 by cradmin

With the continued interest we are seeing in the crystallized glass category, and considering there isn’t a lot of good information out there on the subject, we decided to share this video with you by Alpha Professional Tools, which shows the processing of crystallized glass using their suggested tooling and methods. While, obviously the company’s tools/tooling are being used in this video, there are likely other brands that would work, but this can provide a starting point for the types of equipment and tooling you would likely want to use if fabricating crystallized glass materials.

Fabricator Profile: Tower Industries

Tower-Surfaces-Natural-Countertops

Tower Industries is a father-son kitchen & bath fabrication and cabinetry business founded and operated by Bob and Todd Werstler. The company is a fabricator and dealer of Meridian Solid Surface, Meridian Quartz and natural stone for the residential, institutional and commercial sectors and is headquartered in Massillon, Ohio. Both Bob and Todd pride themselves on courteous, responsive and knowledgeable customer service and try to keep the business as flexible as possible, but the team also has a very effective system of handling collections.

Tower Industries was founded 20 years ago and is projecting a 33 percent surge in sales this year over last. Todd estimates that the company will sell around $4 million in countertops in 2014, and his secret to simplifying the collections process is to ask for full payment in advance for all residential customers.

In addition to gaining control over the collections process, this policy also serves to improve cash flow. Todd says that most of his residential customers did not mind the 100 percent down policy when it was first implement, but the transition for his employees was not without its difficulties. To this end, he decided that his sales people all had the option to extend credit in certain situations, but they would have to personally sign and take responsibility for nonpayment and collections.

MIA Hosts First Accreditation Immersion Course at Coverings

Posted on 17 June 2014 by cradmin

The Marble Institute of America (MIA) hosted its first Accreditation Program Immersion Course during Coverings 2014 in Las Vegas. This one-day course was designed to give companies interested in accreditation the opportunity to learn about the application, participate in a review of the exam material and to take the accreditation exam. The program background information and exam material review were conducted in the morning, while the five-hour, open-book exam was administered in the afternoon.

“I was impressed by the level of interest and passion for the stone industry shown by the Accreditation Immersion participants at Coverings 2014,” said Rodney Harvey of Curtain Wall Design in Dallas, Chair of the MIA Accreditation Commission and facilitator of the program. “As a member of the group who worked diligently to develop the program these candidates exemplified the stated purpose of the MIA Accreditation program: ‘To provide excellence in the natural stone industry and recognize companies demonstrating compliance with quality standards, so that the public values, has access to, and benefits from consistent, competent and safe fabrication, installation and maintenance of natural stone.’”

The MIA currently has plans to conduct similar courses at StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas East in Miami this October, StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas West in Las Vegas next January, and upcoming other sites.
